Tallat Mahmood's work has been featured in Forbes, Entrepreneur, Bplans, TechCrunch, and he is a mentor for MassChallenge, one of the world's largest business accelerators. Find out more about him on The Nice Guys today.

A business plan does not have to be an onerous and lengthy piece of work. Also, it is not an irrelevant exercise and can help your business immensely IF executed correctly. Many entrepreneurs struggle with the same things with an business plan; how to make it relevant, how not to spend months and months on it, how to use it in their business, how to use it for funding, how to structure it properly. Tallat has a step by step system to validating, structuring and pitching your business plan (either to your team or banks and investors) in order for you to be able to manage your business better. Here's more about Tallat:

- He started out as an Aerospace Engineer.

- He has advised companies for 12 years as a corporate financier and as an investor.

- His advisory business, SkyPanther Capital has advised numerous companies globally on how to fund, grow, and exit their businesses.

Here's what we learned today about writing great business plans:

- It should address 2 questions- 1) What is the opportunity and 2)

How are you mitigating against the risks.

- It should be based on what's happening in your business right now.

- Base your plan on already having the money you are looking for.

- Fundraising is a different skill set from building a business. Tallat's flagship online course The Smart Business Plan Academy can help your business build strong business plans in quick time to help them with internal strategy or fundraising.

- Download "7 Proven steps to being fundable in 30 days" free tips to get you started at www.thesmartbusinessplanacademy.com

- His business advisory website SkyPanther Capital, at www.skypanthercapital.com where I personally advise businesses on all matters relating to business growth, fundraising, and exits.

Find out how you can succeed and live mindfully without losing your edge, learn how from Dan Harris on The Nice Guys Podcast today

ABC News anchor Dan Harris has found a way to be happier, calmer and—according to his wife, at least—nicer in the midst of one of the most competitive careers on earth. And if it can work for someone as fidgety, skeptical and stress-prone as him, it can probably work for you, too. It’s a far cry from the heal-your-life, solve-all-your-problems over-promising of self-help. What Dan stumbled upon is practical, doable, and scientifically researched. Dan tells this story as only a reporter can: through deep research, tough questions, and a healthy dose of humor.

Here's more to know about Dan:

 - Author of the New York Times bestselling book 10% Happier

Co-creator of the 10% Happier App

- Through a disgraced evangelical pastor, a mysterious self-help guru, and a fateful gift from his wife, Harris discovered meditation

- He got ABC News anchors Diane Sawyer and Robin Roberts to start meditating

And what we learned talking to him:

The "Voice in your head" does not mean you need to seek professional help

- He's not a tree-hugging, yoga-loving, hippie, kind of guy, but he found that meditation does work

-Meditation can help lower your blood pressure, boost your immune system and even re-wire parts of your brain

- His book "10% HAPPIER: How I Tamed the Voice in My Head, Reduced Stress Without Losing My Edge, and Found Self-Help That Actually Works" is one man’s accidental quest to boost his happiness quotient without losing his professional drive

- His "10% Happier" app is for people who are allergic to New Age-y nonsense. Check out the link below

He is writing, speaking and helping others build better lives one better decision at a time. Here's more that we learned about Terry on the podcast:

He uses the Pomadoro technique- 25 minutes of concerted effort can get almost anything done.

 - He also follows the Charles Emerson Winchester technique- Do 1 thing. Do it very well. Move onto the next.

 - Nothing will ever be perfect, not your business, not your life. But you have the right, the resources and the responsibility to make them better.

A follow-up conversation with entrepreneur and author Tim Fargo, creator of the Tweet Jukebox about his new venture The Extraordinary Network.

Tim has over 190k Twitter followers, he built and sold a successful business for $20 million dollars

  • Tim believes that the only way to be successful is to help others.
  • On Twitter- Created or curated content is OK, just make sure your content is compelling.
  • Stay consistent to your theme.
  • Start off doing your own customer service.
  • Many big companies feel they have a marketing problem, but really they have an execution problem. If they would treat their customers better, they wouldn't have to work so hard to get new ones.
  • A customer who shows up for price, will also leave for price.
  • If you want to start a business, get a job in the industry first. You will be more successful if you learn about a business from the inside before  you try to do it yourself.
  • Don't open a restaurant just because you like to eat food. Running a restaurant is different from being passionate about eating.
  • #1 advice for starting a business- KEEP YOUR OVERHEAD LOW.

Here's a bit to know about Roy Assad:

He has been coaching entrepreneurs for 15 years.

-He and his team have worked with companies such as Hostess, Nissan, Midas, Whirlpool, Duke, Vanderbilt and Yale Universities.

-He is a master at increasing efficiency.

-He has recently launched his passion project "Muses & Visionaries Magazine", you can see it at http://magazinemv.com/

-Entrepreneurs are often standing in the way of their own success.

-Don't think outside the box, instead just throw the box away.

-Roy feels that women are more apt to learn than men, so they are easier to coach.

-Women define their success in different ways.

Signature Advice- Capitalism works. It keeps everyone in check because tomorrow, somebody could choose to do what you're doing now and do it cheaper, faster or better. To succeed you have to be different, but how? Here are the best ways, pick one that works for you, or 2 just to be safe:

Be Nicer- Give better customer service. If you haven't figured this one out from listening to our podcasts…Listen again.

Be Cheaper- Wal-Mart does it, but do you really want to compete with them?

Be Better- Improve the quality, do it better than anyone else.

Be Faster- Find an industry that is slow, and be faster than everyone else!

Be Specialer- Don't focus on everyone, become the expert in a very specific field ("Specialer" is a word, right?)

What have we missed? How have you made yourself stand out that we didn't mention? Let us know and we'll give you a shout out on a future podcast.
